Rare first edition of this standard Dutch history of the revolt against Spain, by Pieter Bor (1559-1635). He was notary in Haarlem and later bailiff-general of North-Holland. With 201 engr. plates: 5 titles, full-page map of the 17 Provinces, 1 full-page ill. of the statue of Alva, 26 portraits (of which 3 of the author in prelims) i.a. Albert & Isabella and 168 half-page ill. (esp. battle scenes and siege plans) with Latin caption in the plate. Woodcut ornament on title of 4th vol. and 1 woodcut ill. in 1st vol. Printed in roman and Gothic type.
