Venice and A2r-D1v text (vol. 2), occ. dampstained or soiled margins, some foxing stains, marg. tear, ms. note in ink).

Contemp. ivory vellum, gilt-decorated covers and spine (blind-stamped embellishment worn off, sl. soiled, spine damaged).

R. Chr. Alberts's magnificent new town atlas of Lombardy and the Ecclesiastical State. Re-issue of P. Mortier's Dutch edition (1704/1705) of Joan Blaeu's "Theatrum Italiae". Ill. with 2 engr. titles and 155 engr. pl., some on a single page but most on double-pages, a map of Italy and a number of very large folding plates with spectacular bird's-eye views of Genua, Milan, Pavia, Bergamo, Venice, Ferrara, Urbino and San Marino. The missing "Naam-Lyst" and half-title are not often present. Interesting are 2 pl. of "L'empereur Traien" [Firenze (Pr):43], both with title as in Van der Krogt's 2nd st., but one with a missing corner and the other with Alberts's imprint, neither state is mentioned in the literature. Alberts reused Mortier's plates, hence the damages, tears, repairs and probably these new states.
