Etching, engraving and drypoint, 19,7 x 14,8 cm, wove paper, signed and dated "Rembrandt / f. 1656", Latin text, ms. note in pen on verso "Chez Naudet M(archan)d au Louvre / 1824" (trimmed outside platemark, sl. browned, traces of former mount on verso).
Mounted on cardboard at left edge. Good impression and condition.
Large and charming portrait of the seated goldsmith with his tools and metalwork. Late 18th or early 19th-c. impression from the original plate etched by Rembrandt in 1656. 4th state (of 5) with much additional shading, but before the plate was completely reworked in a final state.
