8vo: [16]-25-[95] pp. (some marginal pencil scribbling or staining, 1st and last ff. soiled, hole in blank bottom corner of last f.).

Mod. green cloth, flat spine (sl. soiled). Very good copy.

Extremely rare 1580 Antwerp edition of an antipapal treatise (1st 1560) by the Antwerp Lutheran preacher Alaers (Brussels after 1500 - Wilster [Holstein] 1578). Alaers, a former Dominican, in 1566 fled to East Frisia and Holstein. According to P. Valkema Blouw the book was printed by Niclaes Mollijns for his colleague Jasper Troyens. After the Fall of Antwerp Mollijns moved to Riga and Troyens to Dordrecht. Circular woodcut (with papal arms) on title. Printed in Gothic type.
