V. Elschansky (1913-1981), born in the USSR and fleeing the pogroms he moved to Belgium and worked for the press agency Belga. As a Jew, he was arrested during World War II and imprisoned in the Breendonk concentration camp. At the end of the war he followed a chemist training and started his succesful career at the company Solvay. But his real passion was photography. Eleschansky joined the post-war artistic movement of Subjective Photography led by Otto Steinert and other painters and photographers. Photography became an addiction for Eleschansky, a man in search of artistic and technical discoveries. The photographs in this lot originate from the series "Incantation" (3), "Géométrie plastique" (4), "Étude" (5), "Nues accroupées" (2), "Nues inclinées" (1), "Sex appeal" (1), "La peur" (1), "Le filet" (1).
