Sold as a collection of 85 unnumb. cont. hand-coloured lithographed plates out of the original edition (600 pls in a complete set) of this splendid flower book by the Belgian naturalists P.C. Van Geel (1796-1838) and P.-A. Joseph Drapiez (1778-1856), bound together in one volume, seemingly in no particular order. The pls are lithogr. by Burggraaff after G. Severeyns. Each plate is followed by a short explanation giving the classification and characteristics of the plant genus and the specificities of the variety. In our copy, some of the +/- 115 explanation texts have their accompanying plates torn out, making a total of 85 pls. Bound in the beginning of the vol., is the front cover of the 5th instalment, with imprint Brussels, P.M. De Vroom, 1827. Ref.
