Ingen-Housz (Breda 1730-1799), court physician to Empress Maria Theresa 1768-1779. Ingen-Housz, as a pioneer in photosynthesis research, was the first to discover the phenomenon that plants receive some energy from light - in addition to air, soil, and water - which he first explores in this book, with many experiments.
