First edition of this important and detailed work on mushrooms by the Antwerp priest and eminent botanist Van Sterbeeck (1630-1693). Engr. ill.: title, fold. author's portrait and 36 plates by Peter van Sickeleers, of which 26 double-page or folding, showing hundreds of fungi. The text gives detailed botanical descriptions of edible mushrooms (with their preparation), poisonous fungi ("quaede fungi"), ground tubers, herbs, carrots, flowers and fruits, all with their characteristics ("Desen wortel wordt soo dick als het dye van een mans been"), use and possible antidote.
