Beautiful leaf from a medieval folio Bible with illuminations from the Johannes Grusch Workshop.

1 f. (29 x 19 cm), on vellum, in Latin, skilfully written in 2 columns of 50 ll. in a brown Gothic hand, written area: 19,5 x 13 cm, fine illuminated initials alternating in deep blue and red with delicate red and blue penwork extending along the length of the inner margin of the columns.

Under passe-partout. Very fresh.

The large size of the page is unusual in 13th-century Paris Bible production. The book from which this leaf came was a very high-quality production made by the workshop of Johannes Grusch, a group of illuminators active in Paris from the late 1230s until 1270. The text contains Exodus 33:4 - 35:21.
