Rare original edition of Jousse’s manual on timber-frame construction (esp. churches and other larger buildings), with his brief treatise on the orders of columns based on Vignola’s work. Little is known of the author, who published a treatise on locks and metalwork at Griveau’s press in 1627, and a work on stereotomy in 1635. He may have been connected with the Jesuit college at La Flèche, possibly as its architect. Engraved title, 89 woodcut illustrations numbered I-CXXV, including 12 double-page in the first part, and 7 unnumbered woodcut illustrations including 2 full-page in the second part.
