Description du lot
16 April 1867-5 May 1870
Sm. folio: 79 ff. (one f. loose, sl. foxing).
Half green tinted vellum, green marbled paper covers, flat spine (rubbed, 3/4 of vellum missing to spine, label torn off lower cover).
Preparatory studies in pencil, monogrammed "CDA" (for the majority), dated, very occasionally with captions in French. The album is composed of the same type of studies as supra: Oriental women and men (Turks?, Greeks?), body studies, hands, mother with child, aristocratic women and men, groups, knights, the Belgian sea coast ("Heyst"), ceiling paintings, architectural ornaments, a necklace "Collier orientale [sic] ambre et or" (heightened with watercolour), statues (Pepin of Herstal in the Museum of Salzburg, John II, Duke of Brabant) etc. Some with notes in the margins (identifications, notes for the realisation). One full-page sketch with brown wash over pencil representing a comparison between poor and rich children. With some titles of the drawings written in pencil by Cesare Dell'Acqua on front pastedown, he had done the same in the previous album.
