Drawing, pen and brown ink, grey and red wash, 24 x 17,5 cm, laid paper with watermark (posthorn, not in Heawood), indistinct signature at lower right, dated 1610 (age-related toning, coll. stamp at lower right margin of sheet).

Mounted at left corners to 19th-c. paper, under passe-partout.

The Virgin Mary with the Christ Child seated on a throne surrounded by saints and angels. On her left a Carthusian monk presents the rules of the Order. Behind the figures an early Baroque church building with central dome, blessed by God above. Possibly the depiction of the foundation of a new church or monastery, and the blessing thereof.
