Half green grained morocco, small vellum corners, marbled paper on covers, gilt-ruled flat spines (brown., joints and heads rubbed),

Second continental edition (1st Basel 1791, orig. ed. 1776) and only edition to include an English translation of Turgot's "Réflexions sur la formation et la distribution des richesses" (vol. I, p. 1-68, orig. ed. 1770, 1st English trsl. in book form 1793). The translator of Turgot's treatise, one of the most important economic works of all time, is the British political economist Benjamin Vaughan (1751–1835), "an interesting figure of the Enlightenment, previously known mostly for his role in the negotiations that led to the independence of the American colonies, and for his publication of Benjamin Franklins works in 1779" (de Vivo & Sabbagh). Vaughan was also the translator of Condorcets "Vie de Turgot". Advertisements to 3rd and 4th editions at the begin. of vol. I, copious index at the end of vol. IV.
