Etching and drypoint, 35,2 x 22,0 cm, laid paper, Spanish title in lower margin, followed by signature and date: "Pintura de D. Diego Velazquez, del tamaño naturaL, dibujada y grabada por D. Fran(cis)co Goya, Pintor. 1778." (few spots, upper platemark strengthened).
Hinged at upper edges, under passe-partout. Good (sl. later?) impression with wide margins. Good condition. A fine piece of Spanish art history.
From a series by Goya (1746-1828) after paintings by Velázquez (1599-1660) at the time in the Royal Palace in Madrid. The portrait of Baltasar Charles (1629-1646), Prince of Asturias, is now in the Prado (inv. P001180).
