Illuminated literary manuscript.

Sm. 8vo (15,5 x 11 cm): [42] ff., on paper, in Persian, with some Arabic words, 17 ll. (light water stains throughout, sl. browning, some spotting).

20 th-c. cardboard covered with pink papers with folded board and with gilt central cartouche ill. with surah 94, verse 5 and surah 12, verse 87 (some local stains, modern flyleaves).

Unidentified text, untitled, dealing with love, friendship or relationship in the manner of the "Golestan" ("Rose Garden") by the 13th-c. Persian poet Saadi. Illumination: opening and closing page ruled with large gilt border and with illuminated panel in blue and gold with foliate scrolls; 7 full- and 1 double-page gilt heightened miniatures figuring i.a. musicians, women, dance scene at the court in the manner of the 17th-c. Safavid style of Esfahan, but executed later (during the 20th c.?).
