3 parts in 1 vol., folio: [6 (of 14)]-cxcvi-clxvi-ci (of cii) ff. (first 8 ff. of the O.T., ff. lxxxvii and cii of the N.T. and the map missing, some soiling and spotting, some ff. with marg. tears, some reinforced, 1st and last ff. dampstained, toned).
Contemp. calf on wooden boards, spine with raised bands (corners erased, turn-ins missing, joints loosening, covers rubbed, large stain on front cover, spine reinforced).
Rare reprint of the Vorsterman Bible by W. van Vissenaken and Adr. Verbruggen, who had taken over the printing house of Vorsterman one year before. This Dutch version is based on Luther for the Old Testament and on Erasmus' translation for the New Testament. The colophon of the O.T. indicates the date of the 2 February 1544 and that of the N.T. the date of the 31 October 1544. The separated title of N.T., with typical Renaissance borders, bears the date of the 7 November 1530. Ill. with numerous woodcuts.
