Lot description
[Paris, Béchet jeune, 1825]
4to: 60 pl. (spotting throughout).
Contemp. quarter sheep, marbled paper on covers, gilt orn. spine with 4 raised bands (corners rubbed, joints starting to split).
Originating from "The first anatomical atlas illustrated by lithography. This was probably the most elaborate of the lithographic "incunabula" produced by De Lasteyrie, one of the pioneer lithographers in France". Cloquet (1790-1883), published his manual in anatomy first as a folio edition (1821-1831), and due to succes, later on in an augmented, less costly and easier to use, octavo-edition (1825). Our set of mainly osteological plates comes from the latter. All the plates lithographed by Feillet.
