Extremely rare Italian translation (1st: 1671; 1st Latin: 1617) of the treatise on surgery by the pioneering anatomist and surgeon G. Fabrizi d'Acquapendente (1533-1619), known in medical sciences as "The Father of Embryology". He teached anatomy and performed dissections in Padua where he counted William Harvey and Adriaan van den Spiegel among his students. Followed with a compendium on surgery by Marco Aurelio Severino (1580-1656), surgeon and anatomist. Illustrated with 8 copper-engr. plates (one on double-page) by G. Bettamini representing surgical instruments.
