First editions of these botanical books of Knoop (1700-1778), curator of the gardens of Maria Louisa van Hessen-Cassel, William of Orange's widow and Dutch regent, rightly famous for their 39 engraved and splendid hand-coloured plates and for the representation of many species now lost. They were engraved by Folkema and J.C. Philips after the author's drawings. Ref. Nissen.
