New augmented edition of the 1517 ed. printed by Enguilbert de Marnef I and François Regnault. This book retraces the legendary and historical events from the creation of the World onwards. The chronicle also contains the account of a journey to the Holy Land made by the Dominican friar Burchard at the end of the 13th century. The second volume deals with the history of France up to the reign of Francis I. Ill. with ingenious genealogical chains depicting popes emperors & kings, 52 full-page and some 150 in text woodcuts, and two double page for the map of the World and the map of Palestine. Impressive composition for the Battle of Fornovo (6 July 1495), aiming at precision. "The whole is of great interest for the history of the engraving in France" (Rahir). Printed in Gothic type. The second part has its own title page, some woodcuts hand-coloured. Ruled copy.
