2 parts in 1 vol., folio: [6]-CCC, lix [= lx]-[5] ff. (some soiling and spotting, title splitting, sl. browning).
18th-c. vellum, covers with gilt-ruled frame with corner pieces, gilt. orn. spine with raised bands, sprinkled edges (upper joint splitting, sl. soiled). Solid binding, inside very good and sound copy.
First and only edition of this renowned medieval history of Flanders from the mythical beginnings up to the first years of the Habsburg period; the latter part probably written by the Bruges poet Anthonis de Roovere. Illustrated with numerous wooducts: large ill. on title showing equestrian portrait of Charles V, a large three-quarter portrait of Charles V on part-title, some 195 illustrations in text (with repetitions), complete with the rare double-page view of the Siege of Vienna. Gothic type in 2 col., title printed in red and black.
