Contemp. half leather over wooden boards (part of back board missing, leather defective). For centuries, this traditional way of binding was used.

Substantial Ethiopian liturgical manuscript volume, probably written in the Ethiopic Ge'ez script, the liturgical language of the Ethiopian Church. Neat calligraphy in black ink with red touches, in a traditional archaic style. No illustrations, but some headpieces drawn in red and black. Ff. blind-ruled.
