Folio: [18, incl. front.] pp., 1716 col., [50] pp. (browning and spotting).

Contemp. vellum (sl. soiled), large gilt Amsterdam arms on covers within double gilt-ruled Amst. arm. frame and Amst. arm. corner pieces, gilt spine with 7 raised bands and gilt-stamped Amst. arms (front joint splitting), green ties. Nice and impressive Amsterdam prize binding.

Exhaustive ecclesiastical chronicle by the British theologian Edward Simson (1578-1651) and edited by the Dutch philologist Pierre Wesseling (1692-1764), a popular prize book for the highest classes of Latin schools. Ill. with a nice allegorical engr. front. by Wandelaer, from the Leiden ed. by Van der Linden (1729), and engr. vign. on title by A. van der Laan. Title in red and black. Printed in 2 col.
