2nd edition (1st 1768) of the description of P. Poivre's various expeditions from an economic and agricultural point of view. Enlarged with "Discours prononcés par M. Poivre, commissaire du roi; L'un à l'Assemblée générale des Habitants de l'Isle de France [...]", also published separately the same year. Detailed study by the French traveller, naturalist and physiocrat P. Poivre (1719-1786), who had been a missionary in Southern China in the 1750s before administering the Islands of Mauritius and Bourbon [Reunion Island] for the French crown. It gives comparative essays in the field of agriculture, principally in southern Asia and in the islands of the Indian Ocean colonised by France.
