Lot description

[Brussels, Manufacture Stevens, ca. 1850]

H. 13 cm, diam. 9 cm, white faïence with blue decoration signed "C.L.W." (tiny sparkle to the white part, some minor stains, sl. wear to the basis). Good state.

Nice mug decorated with five putti wearing flowers, fruits and foliage. The Brussels painter Wageneer (1819-1890) is known to have been inspired by mythological, Biblical and historical subjects.
