A humanist storehouse of mythological lore, known in English as “On the Genealogy of the Gods of the Gentiles”. This first great treatise on classical mythology is an encyclopedic compilation of the tangled family relationships of the classical pantheons of Ancient Greece and Rome, written in Latin prose 1370-1375 by the Italian author and poet Giovanni Boccaccio (1313-1375). It is followed by a geographical dictionary, both edited by the German humanist Micyllus (1503-1558). Woodcut mark on title and at the end. 13 full-page woodcut genealogical trees.
