18th-c. speckled calf (some min. scratches on covers), gilt orn. spine on 5 raised bands (title part sl. rubbed), gilt sides, marbled endpapers. Very nice copy.

Corrected edition (first Dutch trsl. by M. Everaert, Amst., 1591) of the leading "modern" gynaecological and obstetrical "Hebammen Buch" of Jakob Ruf (Rüff, Ryff, 1500-1558), publ. Frankfurt 1580 and 1588. It replaced the enormously popular work of Eucharius Rösslin (1513). Ill. with 35 woodcuts in-text (parts of female body, position of the fetus, medical instruments). Large woodcut on title. Printed in gothic type in 2 col.
