5th ed. of this early pocket guide for tourists (1st 1733). Engr. ill.: 3 full-page pl. and 5 folding plates showing i.a. a detailed plan of the cathedral, an outside view and the grand portal. The orig. edition by O. Schadaeus ("Summum Argentoratensium Templum", 1617) was the first illustrated guidebook ever devoted to a single medieval building. It contains detailed architectural descriptions of the building, the tower, portals, statues, stained glass windows, and "Le lecteur y trouvera la description de l'horloge, des orgues, cloches, chapelles et ornements de l'église, les endommagements que les tempêtes et les incendies ont causés à l'église et à la tour".
