8vo: [16]-422-[2] pp. (bottom blank margin of title cut off, a few old notes or underlinings).

Old sp. calf, richly gilt spine with 4 raised bands, yellow leather title label, sp. edges (joints sl. rubbed, label on front cover). Very good copy.

Survey of Flanders by the historian J. Marchantius (1537-1609), dedicated to Archduke Albert. It contains an extensive geographical and historical description of the County of Flanders (agriculture, crafts, political and religious organisation etc.), a survey of towns i.a. Oudenaarde, Aalst, Bruges, Courtrai, Douai, Dunkirk, Ghent, Harelbeke, Hulst, Nieuwpoort, Ostend, Ronse, Sluis, Dendermonde, Tournai, Ypres, and a history of the Counts of Flanders up to Philip II. Woodcut mark on 1st and last page.
