19th-c. Jansenist chestnut morocco by Capé Masson Debonnelle, gilt-titled spine with 5 raised bands, gilt sides, a.e.g., nice gilt inside dentelles, marbled endpapers, cloth marker. Nice wide-margined copy of an early incunable, rubricated at beginning and end.
Editio princeps of the “Commentarius in Symbolum Apostolorum” by Rufinus of Aquileia (344-411), an Italian monk best known as a translator of Greek patristic material into Latin -esp. the work of Origen. This commentary on the Apostles’ Creed gives evidence of its use and interpretation in 4th-c. Italy. Printed in gothic type.
