Cont. green morocco, richly gilt decor on covers and flat spine, gilt inside dentelle, gilt sides, a.e.g., housed in a specially designed velvet and silk-linen morocco box. Very good copy.

Precious copy of one of the most famous and popular miniature books, printed in the same fly's eye ("occhio di mosca") type as the Dantino by the same printers. Ill. with a woodcut frontisp.-portrait. "For many years this tiny book which is only half the size of an ordinary postage stamp was considered the smallest printed from movable type (...) In this letter to his friend and patron, the great scientist puts forth one of the earliest and most eloquent pleas for the harmony of religion and science" (Bondy). Ref.
