Parts three and four only and re-edition of the Amsterdam ed. ("De walvischvangst, met veele byzonderheden daartoe betrekkelyk", P. Conradi and V. van der Plaats, 1784-1786) of this classic of Dutch whaling literature by de Jong. Ill. with 11 engr. pl. showing Icelandic and Samoyedic people in original dress, a map of Iceland, Laplandic sledging and indigenous birds such as the Arctic fulmar, the Atlantic puffin etc. Part three comprises the life and habits of the inhabitants of Greenland and the fauna and flora of several Arctic countries. Part four consists of accounts of whalehunters and sailors, details on herring fishery etc.
