Lot description

Ôban tate-e (vertical).

1. Takechi Hinata? Mitsuhide. (1850). Middle part of a triptych. Artist's signature : Ichiyusai Toyokuni-ga. Paired Nanushi censor seal: Mera-Murata (under passe-partout, wormholes, Japanese ink inscription on the back). Fresh colours, ornamental composition of patterns alternating with monochrome areas and crests. Ref. Waseda Tsuboichi Theatre Museum No. 100-5787.-- 2. Black Crows Dance: Nakamura Utaemon. (1841). Publisher: Sano-ya Kihei, artist's signature: Gototei Kunisada-ga, publisher's seal, kiwame (good overall condition, lightly soiled, two small foxing spots). Highly decorative, nice composition with attractive contrast between the dancers' black kimonos and the light landscape. Ref. Waseda Tsuboichi Memorial Theatre Museum No. 100-1193.
Joined, 3 prints: 1. Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798-1861) - Takebayashi Sadashichi, from the series: seichû gishi den, (ca. 1849). Publisher: Ebiya Rinnoshike, publisher's seal: To, Horeichô Ebirin, artist's signature: Ichiyûsai Kuniyoshi-ga, double censors' seal: 1847-1852. Ôban tate-e (vertical) (finely printed in good quality, paper restored and underlaid).-- 2. Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798-1861) - Onoe Kikugurô III in the role of Karigane Bunshichi. [Mid 19th c.]. Publisher seal, artists seal: Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi ga. Kiwame seal (probably later impression, unprecise outline; overall good condition). Ôban tate-e (vertical).-- 3. Shunga. [Erotic print]. Aiban (horizontal), 22,4 x 34 cm. Couple making love, lacquer sewing box in background. (5 pcs)
