16mo: 268 (= 264) ff. (errors in pagination without lack, without the blank ff. B1 & B8 often lacking; title bit dusty, pale dampstaining on first and last ff.).
18th-c. marbled calf, gilt orn. flat spine, marbled edges (joints splitting, corners bumped, cut short shaving a few marginalia).
Rare first French edition by Gabriel Chappuys of Garzoni's physiological and psychological work, "Teatro de vari e diversi cervelli mondani" (Venice, 1583). Work on human characters divided into categories ("cerveaux vains", "Ecervellez", "Cerveaux petits", "Cerveaux vertueux et nobles", "Cerveaux grands", etc.) and explained with ancient and contemporary stories. Small printer's mark on title.
