2 parts in 1 vol., folio: [14]-C.xcvi (= 196)-C.lxvi (= 166), C.ij (= 102) ff. (sl. toned, some minor soiling, hole in woodcut on f. c1v, B3v-4r ink-stained, lower half of last f. cut off with partial loss of woodcut mark on verso - photogr. copy loosely inserted).

Contemp. blind-stamped calf over wood, edges bevelled inside, covers with blind rules and roll-stamps, spine with 4 raised bands with morocco label, metal catches (expertly rebacked and repaired, clasps gone). Very good copy.

Repr. of the famous illustrated Vorsterman Bible (1st 1528), based on the Vulgate, on Erasmus’ Latin version and on Luther’s translation. Titles within elaborate woodcut border; general title in red and black. Folding double-page woodcut map of the Holy Land after Lucas Cranach. Some 250 woodcuts in text, 1 almost full-page.
