Sasha Stone (1895-1940), Russian-born photographer, worked in Berlin, then founded with his Belgian wife Cami, the Studio Stone in Brussels in 1931. After his divorce in 1939 he founded a new studio, but fled Belgium in May 1940 and died from disease in France, on 6 August. In 1933, the French magazine "Arts et métiers graphiques" published this collection of studies of female nudes, as the first in a series of three planned portfolios on the human body. The other two, "Hommes" and "Adolescents", were never executed.
