Lot description

Various sizes and presentations.

Loose in plastic folders.

Interesting account of the early days of aviation showing the first airplanes, mostly biplanes (on the ground with crew and spectators or crashed; some from WWI, i.a. the German bomber type Friedrichshafen G.III that force-landed in Vinkem in January 1918, and was captured and re-used by the Belgian army), but also some monoplanes. 5 photos of zeppelins (i.a. alongside marching soldiers in Westvleteren; in a stone quarry in Verdun 1916) and 6 photos of hot-air balloon spectacles (i.a. the departure of a balloon in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode in 1890). 12 photos of a pilot in a strange device (to simulate airplane movement?). Some amusing photos of nicely dressed people posing behind "cardboard airplanes" at the fair.
Joined: 17 b/w photos showing railways, locomotives, tramways and the funicular of Lourdes. First half 20th c. (107 pcs)
