2 parts in 1 vol., folio: [8]-1270 (= 1268), 468 (= 442)-[6] pp. (minor browning, some min. spotting, local light bottom stain at bottom gutter, tiny wormhole(s) in first few and last quires, some sm. marg. repairs, tear p. 143 touching 1 letter).

Contemp. blind-stamped calf over wood (a few sm. def.), edges bevelled inside, rebacked with later gilt spine with 5 raised bands (rubbed), brown leather title label, metal clasps and catches (1 clasp missing), mod. endpapers. Good copy.

Splendid illustrated corr. ed. of the Dutch Roman Catholic Bible. The first part is an updating of the standard Antwerp 1599 edition of Jan Moretus (in 2nd 1657 issue with pagination to 1270 and without blank after O.T., see Bibles Paris). The second part is a revised version (by Henricus van den Leemputten) of the New Testament edition of Cornelis Verschuren. Engr. title and coat of arms of the dedicatee Ambrosius Capello, bishop of Antwerp. Richly illustrated with 1000+ woodcuts by Christoffel van Sichem, after i.a. Dürer, Lucas van Leyden, Holbein, Penez, Goltzius. Printed in gothic type in 2 col.
