Second edition (first 1772) of this leading scientific work by the Swiss geologist, natural philosopher and meteorologist J.-A. de Luc (1727-1817). Illustr. with 7 fold. engr. plates by Dheulland and Geissler and 1 fold. table. Luc's main interests were geology and meteorology. He devoted a large part of his life perfecting or inventing measuring instruments such as a portable barometer for use during geological experiments. In this work he explains experiments on moisture and evaporation and the use of hygrometers and thermometers.
