First edition of this work on political theory by the Dutch economist and merchant J. de La Court (1618-1685). De lL Court's works were publ. anonymously and contemporaries immediately identified Pieter de La Court as the author of most of them. Now, it is generally believed that this work was actually written by his brother, Johan de La Court. Engr. title surrounded by 6 images with Latin captions.

Later ed. and part one only of this chronicle of the history of Europe and of the Spanish Netherlands by the historian J. Brachelius (16..-1672). Illustr. with an engr. title and 84 (of 97) engr. portaits within medallions representing monarchs, popes, statesmen, bishops, etc. of the century of the Reformation and the Thirty Years' War. Ref.
