4to: [36 (incl. final blank)] ff., 34 ll. (toned, spotted, some marginal staining, top inner margin of 1st half dampstained, margins of first lvs. strengthened, 1st f. partly detached with tear in the text strenghtened, one tiny wormhole in the text repaired).
Modern binding : gold-tooled and blind-ruled brown morocco “à l’antique”, covers with a gilt border pattern surrounding a blind-stamped and blind-ruled central pattern with gilt central and corner ornaments, gilt spine on 5 raised bands, gilt gauffered edges (slightly rubbed).
Good copy. Very rare Italian translation of St Bonaventure’s popular meditations on the Lord’s Passion. This Bologna edition was printed by the Dutchman Henricus de Ha(a)rlem, active there 1482-1488, later in Siena. Decoration : ornamented border on 1st f. and 15 small initials in ink colour and gold; rubricated in red and blue. Ref.
