Lot description
Latin manuscript on paper, c. 20 x 15 cm, [14]-457-[9] pp. (minor soiling, ink corrosion on f. 2), written in brown ink, with a few calligraphic titles.
Contemp. leather, gilt spine on 5 raised bands (rubbed, front joint splitting, head def.). In good condition.
Extensive early logic course by J.B. Soupart (d. 1714). Decoration: title border with saints Cornelius and Cyprianus and a drawing of a "castrum"; historiated initial (p. [3]); coloured title engraving (p. 52) = Ex Cathedra p. 215 nr. 1.2.2; scientific engraving (p. 211) by Michael Haye (not in Ex Cathedra). Loosely inserted: title engraving (central oval blank cut out) for a student’s course at the Collegium Falconis (De Valk), showing a falcon at top, saints Dionysius and Catharina, sm. portraits of Plato and Aristotle, Leuven coat of arms - this engraving not listed in Ex Cathedra (p. 215: “van dit type zijn in de collectie geen voorbeelden van pedagogie De Valk”).
