8vo: [12]-800-659-[1 bl.] pp. (usual toning and spotting, title loosening).

Old leather, red edges (loose). Good copy.

Important voluminous scholarly Greek ed. of Euripides’ tragedies, including the editio princeps of the fragment of “Danae”, found in the Heidelberg Bibliotheca Palatina. The editor Aemilius Portus (1550-1614) was an Italian humanist active in Germany. He corrected the Latin tsl. of Dorotheus Camillus (pseudonym of the Zürich professor of Greek Rudolf Ambühl, 1499-1578), and added notes by the Leuven professor of Greek Willem Canter (1542-1575). Woodcut mark on title. Greek text with facing Latin trsl.
