Folio: [38, 2 bl.]-223-[8] pp., pp. 224-715-[1] (toned, occ. spotting or marginal staining).
Cont. gilt calf, covers with gilt ruled border and oval central ornament, richly gilt spine on 6 raised bands (skilfully repaired and rebacked, new endpapers). Good copy.
Latin version of the “History of the Ancient World” of the Greek historian Diodorus Siculus (1st C.), partly translated by the French Reformed theologian S. Castellio (1515-1563). With additional ancient texts on the Fall of Troy, translated by the Heidelberg Greek professor W. Xylander (Holtzman, 1532-1576), all edited by the Swiss theologian Johann Jakob Grynaeus (1540-1617). Woodcut mark at the end. Ref.
