Ibidem, 1618. [16]-92-[19, 1 bl.] pp. [and] ID. – Self-stryt, dat is Crachtighe beweginghe van vlees en gheest, poëtischer wijse verthoont in den persoon [...] van Joseph [...]. 1. First ed., 2nd issue of one of the major Dutch emblem books, and also Cats’ 1st emblem book, with 51 emblems and texts in Dutch, Latin and French. The engravings in pts 2-3 of the 1st issue are here replaced by typographical text Woodcut ornament on titles. Engraved ills: 3 titles by F. Schillemans after A. van de Venne, folding pl. showing playing children in Middelburg, 51 circular emblems. Ref. Cats catalogus (STCN) 170. - Cp. Engr. ills: full-page coat-of-arms on verso of title, 44 circular emblems by J. Swelinck (?) after A. van de Venne, half-page engraving at beginning of ‘Harders-clachte’. Ref.
