Lot description
Drawing, pen and brown ink, 20,2 x 16 cm, laid paper with unidentified watermark, 19th-c. num. on verso (sm. crease at lower right corner).
Stuck by corners on 19th cent. paper.
An angry bearded man dressed in a toga waving a sceptre. Vividly drawn. On verso other figure studies, probably by the same hand: Mercury ascending to the heavens, Juno with a peacock, a fleeing cow or bull (Europa?) and a beheaded nude figure. Based on these figures, the man on the recto side might be interpreted as Jupiter.
