Large set of fine engravings from an edition of Buffon, end 18th c., approx. 18 x 23 cm, b/w. Engraved by B. De Bakker, C.F. Fritszsch and Hulk after De Seve. I.a. hornbill, kingfisher, plover, flamingo, starling, pigeon, vulture, woodpecker etc. French caption below. - 11 plates, 1837. Engravings by P.F. Delpierre and F. J. Desmares. With names below i.a. duck, gull-billed tern, pelican etc. - 10 plates, Brussels, Burggraff, 19th c. Lithographs published by Th. Lejeune, +/- 10 x 14 cm. Handcol., some goldheightened. Very attractive set. Joined: +/- 27 ff. woodcuts of birds and other animals, from Aldrovandi's works, rather poor condition. Text ff. joined.
