First edition of the Dutch translation of "Histoire des Provinces-Unies" (1728) by the Huguenot historian Jean Le Clerc (1657-1736), famous for his edition of the works of Erasmus. Lavishly illustrated with engr. ill.: 3 different allegorical frontispieces by B. Picart, by I. v. Munnichuysen after G. de Lairesse and by A. Blooteling after W. Schellinkx, 3 title-vign. by B. Picart, 2 folding maps ("Algemeene kaart der Vereenigde Nederlanden" by Z. Châtelain, "Het blocqueeren van Amsterdam"), 57 full-page portraits (i.a.
