viii-36 pp. [bound with] ID. - Beschrijving van vruchtboomen en vruchten, die men in hoven plant en onderhoudt [...], [4]-70 pp. [and] ID. - Beschrijving der plantagie-gewassen, die men in hoven aankweekt [...], [4]-87-[1 bl.-4] pp. Amsterdam, Allart & Holtrop; Dordrecht, De Leeuw & Krap, 1790. 3 works in 1 vol., folio (marg. spotting, some soiling).

Cont. half calf, gilt flat spine, brown leather title label (corners bumped, joints, heads & tails rubbed). Good copy.

Later ed. of 3 works on fruit trees for the kitchen garden (1-2) and on all sorts of trees for the pleasure garden (3) by J.H. Knoop (1700-1769). The first 2, among the most beautiful Dutch 18th-c. books, are rightly famous for their 39 engr. and splendid handcoloured plates and for their presentation of many species now lost. The 1st one is ill. with 20 full-page pl. by J. Folkema and J.C. Philips depicting apples and pears, the 2nd one with 19 full-page pls with illustrations of peaches, plums, cherries, berries, etc. Ref.
