Strasbourg, J. Rihelius, 1575

8vo: [7-1 bl.]-267-[65] ff. (toned, a few marginal ink stains, a few annotations and reader’s marks).

Contemp. blind-stamped pigskin, covers with large panel stamp and ornamental roll borders, spine with raised bands (sl. warping). Very good copy.

Vol. 1 (of 2), complete in itself of a very rare Strasbourg ed. of Cicero’s letters by the German educator and Protestant reformer Johannes Sturm (1507-1589). In his youth Sturm studied at the Leuven Collegium Trilingue and had a share in a Leuven printing office.
